20-yr-old pleads guilty, to be sentenced later this month
Marika Ragogo, the 20-year-old of Vatukarasa in Nadroga pleaded guilty to one count of ‘Indecently insulting and annoying any person’ at the Suva Magistrates Court this morning.
Ragogo appeared before Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili.
The charges were read out to Ragogo and he understood what he is charged with.
Ragogo’s lawyer, Vilisoni Tuicolo asked the case to be called in Suva and produced mitigating factors for his client.
In his mitigation, lawyer Vilisoni Tuiloco told the court that Ragogo:
- was a first offender.
- is a farmer who earns up to $100 a week.
- stays with his mother and siblings and is the breadwinner of the family.
- cooperated with the police.
- sorted forgiveness from the complainant.
Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili has adjourned the case to the 20th of this month for the sentencing.

MAY 5, 2016 6:15pm | PENI SHUTE20-year-old Marika Ragogo of Vatukarasa in Nadroga who is charged with one count of ‘Indecently insulting and annoying any person’ appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court this afternoon.
Ragogo appeared before Resident Magistrate Jioji Boseiwaqa.
Magistrate Jioji Boseiwaqa has adjourned the case to tomorrow for Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili to determine Ragogo’s bail application and whether the matter will be transferred to the Sigatoka Magistrates Court.
Ragogo has been remanded in custody.
20-yr-old man charged for posting photo of a minor with disturbing comments
MAY 4, 2016 5:34pn | PENI SHUTEA 20-year-man of Vatukarasa in Nadroga has been charged for posting a photo comment of a minor in a Facebook group.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the man has been charged with one count of ‘Indecently insulting and annoying any person’.
NAISORO: “He is a 20-year-old farmer, he was brought in earlier today and was charged this afternoon after questioning.”
The man will appear in the Suva Magistrates Court today.
Police investigate man’s disturbing comment regarding a child on facebook
MAY 4, 2016 7:26am | ASHUTOSH SINGHAn investigation has begun regarding a post where a man made a disturbing photo comment regarding a child on facebook.
Commissioner of Police, Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho has expressed serious concerns about the nature of the post.
QILIHO: “At a time where the nation is working towards eradicating this issue and looking at ways at protecting our children from becoming victims of such crimes, making a joke of such an issue is sickening.”
Investigators have been tasked to track down the person who posted the photo comment of the child.
