Chief Executive Officer, Water Authority of Fiji, Mr. Opetaia Ravai today called on members of the public who are illegally connected to water authority’s water pipes to register themselves with the authority.

We now have an amnesty for illegal connections and customers who have not received their water bills.  Until the 31st of March we are giving you time to come up and tell us why they are not receiving their bills.  Maybe they are connected illegally or maybe they were like that for a long time.

Mr. Ravai said people without water meters needed to be ‘regularised’, otherwise they would be taken to task if caught by WAF.

If we find people illegally connected to our systems then we will prosecute like we’ve normally done in the past. We are encouraging our customers who have not received their bills to come and talk to us.

If they know they don’t have a water meter which means they are illegally connected, please come and talk to us so that we can regularise your connection and that you don’t find problems later on. Because, if we do catch you later on then you will be prosecuted as per the legal framework that surrounds our operations.
