DISMAC receives two vehicles to assist with recovery efforts
The Minister for Agriculture, Rural and Maritime Development and National Disaster Management, Hon. Inia Seruiratu today received two Mahindra vehicles from the Tappoo Group of Companies for relief works by DISMAC.
While handing over the vehicles, the Executive Director, Tappoo Group of Companies, Mahendra Tappoo said it was during an interaction with DISMAC that the critical need for more vehicles became apparent.
This prompted us to seek assistance from our contact, India’s world renowned car maker, the Mahindra Group. When Mahindra learnt of the plight of our people, they relayed their sympathies and support and kindly agreed to donate two utility vehicles for the benefit of the people of Fiji.
The two vehicles are Mahindra’s renowned tough, powerful and rugged Mahindra Scorpio Twin Cab 4×4 Pik Ups ideally suited for relief works by DISMAC.
Mr. Tappoo thanked the Chairman and Managing Director of the Mahindra Group, Mr. Anand Mahindra and to its President and CEO Mr. Pravin Shah for their extreme generosity for donating the two vehicles worth $120,000.
On behalf of Government and the NDMO, Minister Seruiratu thanked the Mahindra Group and Tappoo Group of Companies for the assistance.
I am thankful to the Tappoo Group and Mahindra Group for the timely donation, which will assist us in accessing remote and rural areas and deliver assistance to those affected by Tropical Cyclone Winston.
