myFund – Check your FNPF balance via mobile phones
Members of the Fiji National Provident Fund can now access account balances and other details using mobile phones, following the launch of a new SMS facility called myFund in Suva this morning.
Launching the service was Chief Operating Officer, Jaoji Koroi said the myFund service is a value adding service that allows FNPF members to check their account balances and eligibilities through mobile phones.
The introduction of this enquiry-based service is part of the Fund’s strategic efforts to engage more effectively with members as we continue to make our services accesible and affordable.
Mr Koroi said the new value-added service will be free until 15 March, after which 18 cents per transaction will be charged.
Mr. Koroi elaborated on how myFund will benefit its FNPF members.
Members account information is available 24 hours a day and can be accessed from anywhere in the country. Members will no longer need to visit our offices to receive their withdrawal eligibilities and account balances.
Most of our members that visit our Customer Services centre around Fiji do so to check on their eligibility and balance. The introduction of this new service allows members to check their balances at a time and place convenient to them.
Mr Koroi said myFund targets to build an informed member base.
myFund is functional and efficient. It is our hope that it will help in decongesting our Customer Service centres and reduces the amount of paperwork for both FNPF and our customers. It also allows our members to check whether their employers are paying their contributions or whether their contributions are being directed to their accounts.
Mr. Koroi also acknowledged the assistance provided by Vodafone Fiji Limited and NewNet Limited in regards to this new service. He also thanked Vodafone for extending the free service to FNPF members.
Members can access the following via myFund:
- Check account balance – Total balance and balances for their General & Preserved Accounts
- Check housing eligibility
- Check other eligibilities (inclusive of unemployment, funeral, medical, education)
All members who have a Vodafone and Inkk number can opt for myFund by simply dialling *567# to get started. If your mobile number is already registered with the Fund, you should be able to access your information with ease. If you are not registered, then members can visit any FNPF office to sign up for myFund.
Mr. Koroi said the myFund service will later be launched with Digicel Fiji for FNPF customers who are on the network.
Will be talking to Digicel, but of course Vodafone is owned 80% by the FNPF members and is a fully local company.
The other SMS facility provided by the Fund, SUPERTxt, will be phased out after five years of free service to FNPF’s members.
